Two weeks ago I went to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London. This retrospective is showcasing a huge number of the designer’s creations including his iconic coned-shaped bras and sailor stripes. It was amazing to see the breadth of his work and the richness of his designs where every little detail is thought through.
A lot of these designs seem to be using recycled or simple fabrics which are then constructed and embellished in a very sophisticated way.
Variations around his corsets which became truly iconic when Madonna wore one during her Blond Ambition tour.
INSPIRED BY NATURE
The exhibition is really well staged with animated mannequin faces (especially one as Jean Paul Gaultier himself :)) and well documented on top of allowing us to see more than 100 of the couturier creations!
Unfortunately the 25th of August was the last opening day at the Barbican Centre, however you might be able to see it in another city of its international tour. More information here.
Have a nice day!
