There is a new yummy address in town! Maître Choux has just opened a few weeks ago and, after seeing some beautiful pictures of their éclairs over Instagram, I thought I absolutely had to try them 🙂This pastry shop is the creation of Joakim Prat, a talented young ‘Pastry Artist’ (he was previously the head pastry chef of the two-stars restaurant The Greenhouse in London). Here, they are selling freshly made éclairs, choux and chouquettes. Maître Choux is a cute little store close to South Kensington tube station and, even though its front window is quite small, people are regularly stopping by, their attention drawn to the little coloured things in the window display 🙂
The choice was hard but I finally went for the Violet and Wild Berries, the Salted Butter Caramel, the Vanilla and Pecan Nuts and the Italian Lemon Meringue éclairs 🙂 But it is not finished yet… I got tempted by the little Salted Caramel choux and the Raspberry one which the really nice store assistant recommended to me (I am so easy to convince when it comes to pastries ;)). I even got to try a little complementary chouquette which was really nice and soft. If you are used to eating éclairs, you might know that ‘normal’ ones are nice but sometimes a bit too filling. These ones are just a pure delight! They are delicate, playing with different textures and the cream is tasty and light… I am definitely a big fan of the caramel éclair (as usual ;)) and the berries one. We then tried the choux which were a bit more simple than the éclairs but delicious as well! The raspberry one was quite interesting with its fresh raspberry coulis hidden at the centre of the vanilla cream… Yummy 🙂 The ultimate yumminess test was my other half, who is not usually a big fan of sweet stuff, but asked me after we had finished our tasting session if we could get some more soon 🙂
I can only recommend you to pop by Maître Choux and enjoy the best of French creative pastry!
